Third graders recognize that human interference in the natural environment can cause harm to animal life, and they differentiate between proper and improper treatment of animals which entertain and provide recreation.

They also identify the products that farm animals contribute to society. Second graders are engaged in caring for a pet in the classroom. First graders learn to take responsibility for pets at home and identify animals that do not make good pets.
